What is ClO2?

Chlorine Dioxide has been described as the “ideal” biocide. Recent innovations in safe and efficient delivery mechanisms have allowed chlorine dioxide to be applied to a wide variety of applications. It’s now included in many drinking water hygiene programs around the globe.

Chlorine Dioxide (CIO2) is an oxidising biocide, it can release oxygen atoms with strong oxidizing capacity,it kills micro-organisms (bacteria, viruses and spores) by attacking and penetrating their cell wall, disrupting the transport of nutrients across the cell wall and inhibiting protein synthesis.Meanwhile, Chlorine dioxide is able to purify air by oxidizing the substance which can release odor.

Chlorine dioxide can kill 99.99% of bacteria, viruses, Cancer, SARS virus, H1N1 viruses, hepatitis viruses, bacteria breeding body, phage and bacterial spores and all other harmful micro-organisms.

The major advantage of chlorine dioxide, in comparison with other oxidants (hydrogen peroxide, ozone and chlorine), is its low oxidation power, in combination with a high oxidation capacity. The combination of low oxidation power and high oxidation capacity makes this product very suitable for relatively safe and easy use in a variety of applications including aquaculture.
